5 healthy winter dinners to try this week

While we’re bedding in for winter in Australia and swimmers season is on the distant horizon, it can be hard to keep up the healthy food habits we’ve lived by over the summer. Everyone knows the feeling a little too well: coming home from the cold outside and battling the urge to head straight for quick and easy comfort food. Add into the equation a few solid workouts, and we’re ready to break the fat-and calorie-bank even more than usual – this is when we’re in most danger of opting for convenience foods and unbalanced meals. With lack of daylight hours also contributing to feelings of fatigue and laziness, it’s no wonder that by dinner time cooking a nutritionally balanced meal isn’t really top of the priority list. Yet as we descend into winter, with the colds and flu lingering around the corner, our bodies are in desperate need of nourishing energy & immune boosting ingredients. However, contrary to popular opinion, healthy winter cooking doesn’t have to involve hours of slaving away over a hot stove. There are plenty of nourishing bowls, protein packed salads or and hearty stews that will bolster your immune system & fill you with energy for the next day.

Here’s 5 of our homely favourites that will sooth your tired taste buds and recharge your energy levels so you can stay on top of your game, whatever the weather.
